3D Printing Examples
Created a CAD model and fabricated 3D printed parts for an electronics enclosure, for a commercial medical device. I first modeled the enclosure in solid plastic for shape and size. After dimensions were finalized, details for mounting the PCBA (printed circuit board assembly), speaker and battery were designed in SolidWorks CAD. 3D prints were then made to test fit and function of the internal components. The final prototype design was printed using a Form 2 printer with Formlabs ‘Tough Resin’.

Designed original CAD/3D printing assignment while teaching Rochester Institute of Technology Industrial Design students. I developed this assignment for the Integrated CAD course. It consisted of reverse engineering a LEGO® brick, building it in CAD and 3D printing. The final printed result needed to fit manufactured LEGO® bricks, as well as having correctly made CAD files including configurations and assemblies of several sizes of bricks.

Designed and built a fixture to test the durability of the polycarbonate latches on a plastic overmolded case. The test fixture was designed to measure latch travel, force and number of cycles until failure. The printed parts were fabricated with an SLA 3D printer. Renderings of the parts include the details of the design, such as heat-set threaded brass inserts and other components.
